§  Degree Programme OR

§  Post-graduate Degree Programme OR

§  Diploma Programme which is of a minimum duration of one academic year and whose examination isconducted by the University subsequent to passing the 12th class examination

is eligible to participate in the Competition 

2)  Students enrolled in correspondence course in Affiliated College / Constituent College / Recognized Institute / Centre / Academic Department of Any University of India are not eligible.

3)  Casual students, external students and students pursuing only bridge course in Affiliated College / Constituent College / Recognized Institute / Centre / Academic Department of Any University of India are not eligible.

4)  Student enrolled in distance education programme of the Any Any University of India’s not eligible.

5)  Students having provisional admission in Affiliated College / Constituent College / Recognized Institute / Centre / Academic Department of Any University of Inda are not eligible.

6)  Student can represent only that Affiliated College / Constituent College / Recognized Institute / Centre /Academic Department of Any University of Inda from where he / she is pursuing his / her degree / diploma.

7)  Student should have valid PRN No. / Registration No., Identity Card and Fees Receipt of the Affiliated College / Constituent College / Recognized Institute / Centre / Academic Department of Any University of Inda from where he / she is pursuing his / her degree / diploma.

8)  Student migrating from other University can participate only when his / her admission is regularized and he / she gets admitted as bonafide student.

9)  A student employed on full time basis shall not be eligible to participate.

10) A student shall not be allowed to represent more than one Affiliated College / Constituent College / Recognized Institute / Centre / Academic Department of Any University of Inda during the Youth Festival.

All students for participating in the Inter-Collegiate / Institute / Department Ashtkala Festival shall fulfill the following conditions-

a)  Not more than 7 years have elapsed since a student passed the examination qualifying him/her for first admission to a degree or diploma course of Affiliated College / Constituent College / Recognized Institute / Centre / Academic Department of Any University of Inda.

b)  Only students, who are less than 25 years of age (As on September 30, 2026) can participate.

c)  Further, students can participate for one year more than the normal length of the academic programme which he / she is following.

Explanation

1.  For the purpose of computing years of eligibility one year will cover means the academic year in which the Ashtkala Festival is held irrespective of whether the students result is declared or not. It will normally be extended from June / July of one year to 12 calendar months to the next year.

2.  The restriction of participation to a period of one year more than the length/duration of academic course means that students pursuing a three years degree programme (i.e. B.A, B.Sc., B.Com., etc.) can participate for four years, while a student pursuing four years programme (i.e. B.E., B.Tech., etc.) can participate for five years.

1.  Any disqualification of a participant on ground of ineligibility will result in the automatic scratching of the participant from the 58th Inter-Collegiate / Institute / Department Youth Festival.

2.  A Participant disqualified on the grounds of ineligibility shall not be permitted to participate in 58th Inter-Collegiate / Institute / Department Youth Festival.

There is no limitation on the number of student participants each college, institute, or university academic department can send

·  The item shall be presented in either Hindustani or Karnataki style.

·  Film songs shall not be allowed in this event.

·  The duration of the performance shall be minimum 8 and maximum 10 minutes. The computation of time shall start immediately after the final announcement by the organizer(s).

·  Time for stage/instruments setting shall be maximum 3 minutes.

·  Maximum number of accompanists shall be 2.

·  The student participant may use an instrument such as Tanpura, Electronic Tanpura or Swarmandal during the performance.

·  The evaluation shall be based on the qualities like selection of raga, presentation and general impression.

·  Three copies of the details regarding Raag, Taal and Bandish written in Marathi or English, shall be submitted at the time of registration on the day of competition.

·  There is no limitation on the number of student participants each college, institute, or university academic department can send

·  The item shall be presented in either Hindustani or Karnataki style.

·  The duration of the performance shall be minimum 8 and maximum 10 minutes. The computation of timeshall start immediately after the final announcement by the organizer(s). Hence, the participants are advised to tune their instruments well in advance.

·  Time for stage/instruments setting shall be maximum 3 minutes.

·  Only 1 accompanist shall be allowed.

·  Participant shall bring their own instruments.

·  The evaluation shall be based on the qualities like selection of taal, presentation and general impression.

·  There is no limitation on the number of student participants each college, institute, or university academic department can send.

·  The item shall be presented in either Hindustani or Karnataki style.

·  The duration of the performance shall be minimum 8 and maximum 10 minutes. The computation of timeshall start immediately after the final announcement by the organizer(s). Hence, the participants are advised to tune their instruments well in advance.

·  Time for stage/instruments setting shall be maximum 3 minutes.

·  Only 1 accompanist shall be allowed.

·  Participant shall bring their own instruments.

·  The evaluation shall be based on the qualities like swar, taal, selection of raga and general impression.

·  There is no limitation on the number of student participants each college, institute, or university academic department can send

·  The student shall present the song / natyapad from any theatre sections of India.

·  The song / natyapad shall be of natyageet style, any other type of song (ovi or bhavgeet) shall not be considered as natyageet.

·  Natyapad in film songs shall be allowed in this event.

·  The duration of  the  performance shall  be  minimum 5  and maximum

7 minutes. The computation of time shall start immediately after the final announcement by the organizer(s).

·  Time for stage/instruments setting shall be maximum 3 minutes.

·  Maximum number of accompanists shall be 2. However, the student participant himself/herself may also play an instrument. The student participant/ accompanist(s) may use an instrument such as Tanpura, Electronic Tanpura or Swarmandal.

·  The evaluation shall be based on the qualities like sur, taal and general impression.

·  Three copies of the songs with their meaning written in Marathi or English (for the songs in the language other than Marathi or Hindi) shall be submitted at the time of registration on the day of competition.

·  There is no limitation on the number of student participants each college, institute, or university academic department can send.

·  The songs shall be in any regional/official language of India, other than English.

·  Film songs shall not be allowed in this event.

·  The duration of  the  performance shall be  minimum 4  and maximum

6 minutes. The computation of time shall start immediately after the final announcement by the organizer(s).

·  Time for stage/instruments setting shall be maximum 3 minutes.

·  Maximum number of accompanists shall be 2. However, the student participant himself/herself may also play an instrument. The student participant/ accompanist(s) may use Synthesizer or any other Electronic Instrument/Gadget during the performance.

·  The evaluation shall be made on the qualities like swara, taal and general impression.

·  Three copies of the songs with their meaning written in Marathi or English (for the songs in the language other than Marathi or Hindi) shall be submitted at the time of registration on the day of competition.

·  Each participating College / Institute / University Academic Department shall depute a single team ( One stream one team i.e. if any collage having BA, B.com & Bsc they can send up to 3 team ) having minimum 4 and maximum 6 student participants. 

·  The team shall present two songs, out of this one shall be patriotic and another shall be Indian folk song.

·  The songs shall be in any regional / official language(s) of India, other than English.

·  Film songs shall not be allowed in this event.

·  The total duration of the performance including both the songs shall be minimum 8 and maximum 10minutes. The computation of time shall start immediately after the final announcement by the organizer(s).

·  Time for stage/instruments setting shall be maximum 5 minutes.

·  The maximum number of accompanists shall be 3. However, student participant(s) may play instruments while singing. The student participant(s)/accompanist(s) may use Synthesizer or any other Electronic Instrument/Gadget during the performance but it shall be used in one mode only.

·  The evaluation shall be based on composition, choice of songs, synchronization, quality of singing, presentation and overall impact and not on the make-up, costumes and actions of the team.

·  Three copies of the songs with their meaning written in Marathi or English (for the songs in the language other than Marathi or Hindi) shall be submitted at the time of registration on the day of competition.

·  Each participating College / Institute / University Academic Department shall depute a single team ( One stream one team i.e. if any collage having BA, B.com & Bsc they can send up to 3 team ) having minimum 6 and maximum 9 student participants.

·  The team shall present original folk tunes of Maharashtra. The instruments played shall be original for a particular folk and appropriate related to folk art in Maharashtra.

·  Folk tunes played in the Films shall not be allowed in this event.

·  The  duration  of  the  performance  shall  be  minimum  8  and  maximum

10 minutes. The computation of time shall start immediately after the final announcement by the organizer(s). This time does not include time required for setting/tuning of instruments.

·  Time for setting/tuning of instruments shall be maximum 10 minutes.

·  Maximum 3 accompanists shall be allowed. They shall be in different dress from the student participants so that they could be easily identified.

·  The accompanists shall sit/stand separately from the participants and shall not lead the team.

·  The evaluation shall be based on the originality, composition, synchronization and variety and not on make-up, costumes and actions of the team.

•  There is no limitation on the number of student participants each college, institute, or university academic department can send.

·  The classical dance shall be from any of the following Indian classical dances: Kathak, Kathakali,Bharatnatyam, Manipuri, Kuchipudi, Mohiniattam and Odissi.

·  Classical style dances in Films shall not be allowed in this event.

·  The  total  duration  of  performance  shall  be  minimum  12  and  maximum

15 minutes. The computation of time shall start immediately after the final announcement by the organizer(s).

·  Time for stage/instruments setting shall be maximum 3 minutes.

·  The maximum number of accompanists shall be 3 which may include singers, instrumentalists, light curtain operators, etc.

·  For the Selection Round, sound track or recorded music may be allowed but for Final Round live accompaniment shall be compulsory. However live accompaniment shall be given due credit at the Selection Round.

·  The evaluation shall be based on the qualities like taal, abhinaya or expressions, costumes, footwork and general impression, etc.

·  Three copies of a brief note on the description of dance story involved in accompanying song, if any, with its meaning shall be submitted either in Marathi or English at the time of registration on the day of competition.

·  Each participating College / Institute / University Academic Department shall depute a single team ( One stream one team i.e. if any collage having BA, B.com & Bsc they can send up to 3 team ) of minimum 8 and maximum 10 student participants.

·  The dance shall be either primitive Indian tribal or folk dance but it shall not be a classical dance.

·  Recorded music shall not be allowed during the performance. Live accompaniment shall be given due credit.

·  The dances and folk dances in Films shall not be allowed in this event.

·  The total duration of  performance shall be  minimum 8  and maximum

10 minutes. The computation of time shall start immediately after the final announcement by the organizer(s).

·  Time for stage/instruments setting shall be maximum 5 minutes.

·  The participating team shall remove the sets, property, instruments, etc. used for the Folk Dance within 2 minutes after their performance.

·  The maximum number of accompanists/back-stage artists/helpers shall be 5.

·  The evaluation shall be based on the basis of originality, authenticity, music, rhythm, formation, expression, costumes, make-up and overall effect.

·  Three copies of a brief note either in Marathi or in English giving details of the type/style of folk dance and the text meaning of the song, if any, shall be submitted at the time of registration on the day of competition.
